Mobility: a new standard by 2026?
From 2026, Belgian legislation could require employers to offer a mobility budget to all employees entitled to a company car.

What is about to change for your customers?
Obligation to offer
an alternative to the company car An ongoing government proposal provides that every employer who grants a company car must also offer a mobility budget to its employees in the long term.A budget that is still calculated on the basis of the TCO, to be divided into three spending categories
The mobility budget is based on the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the vehicle to which the employee is entitled (leasing, fuel, insurance, taxes, etc.).
The employee can then divide this budget between:
an electric car (if offered by the employer).
sustainable mobility solutions (public transport, bicycle, living close to work, etc.).
the payment in cash of the remaining amount, subject to a special contribution of 38.07%.
The aim is to encourage more sustainable mobility and offer more flexibility in wage policy.
Even though not all details have been laid down yet, the contours are becoming clearer. Companies would do well to take steps now.
What is your role as a partner?
You are indispensable to alert companies to this evolution and to support them in:
auditing their current practices.
rethinking their mobility policy.
preparing HR for this transition.
This measure goes beyond mere fleet management. It's all about a sustainable mobility policy tailored to each employee.
💡Good to know: the possible abolition of the 36-month waiting period before a mobility budget can be offered can accelerate this introduction.
